In the forecourt idols of Karimkali, fond of sacrificial offerings is present. Idols of Devi Annapoorneswari. Kodumkali, Bhootakali, Ksetrapala, Ganapati Dharmasastha, and Yakshi Amma, the benign form of Vampire supposed to have been arrested by the legendary Christian Priest-magician Kadamattathu Kathanar, and Devi Durga in Her Kumbhakalasapriya Avatar, in the Palliyara chamber, are are found in these Temples, and their combined power and grace are felt by the visitors.
Bhootham, Kodumkali & Karimkali
Nagapooja is a tradition of the Temple complex. The Jungle around the Panayannarkavu temple has special significance. The one to the west of the temple is the most important. Of the three major snake worshipping places –Vettikkottu, Mannarassala and Manakkavu, the one at this place is Manakavu which is on the western side of the temple. At four other also in these jungles you find four installations of Nagarajas, Nagyakshis and Chitrakootas. On the Auspicious day of Ayillyam day in Thulam (Oct/ Nov), Pooja is performed at all the five sites. Worshippers are allowed into all these five places only on this occasion. Daily worship is performed only at Manakkavu. Tall Palm trees are found from the west side of the Temple till the banks of River Pampa.
